چکیده

Abstract With the continuous expansion of application range microelectromechanical systems, microdevice forming technology has achieved remarkable results. However, it is challenging to develop new microforming processes that are low cost, environmentally friendly, and highly flexible; high-energy shock wave in a cavitation bubble’s collapse process used as loading force. Herein, for microbulging water-jet proposed. A series experiments involving TA2 titanium foil performed on an experimental system. The feasibility investigated by characterizing shape formed part. Subsequently, effects main parameters bulging profile, depth, surface roughness, thickness distribution revealed. results show plastic deformation increases nonlinearly with incident pressure. When pressure 20 MPa, maximum exceeds 240 μm, thinning ratio changes within 10%. verified this phenomenon.

Prevention of tissue damage by water jet during cavitation

Cavitation bubbles accompany explosive vaporization of water following pulsed energy deposition in liquid media. Bubbles collapsing at the tip of a surgical endoprobe produce a powerful and damaging water jet propagating forward in the axial direction of the probe. We studied interaction of such jet with tissue using fast flash photography and modeled the flow dynamics using a two-dimensional R...

Cavitation bubble behavior inside a liquid jet

The growth and collapse of laser-induced vapor cavities inside axisymmetric free-falling liquid water jets have been studied. Bubbles of different size are generated at various distances from the jet axis and the effects on the jet interface are recorded by means of ultrafast cinematography. The configuration is characterized by two dimensionless parameters: the bubble to jet diameter ratio and...

Cavitation pressure in water.

We investigate the limiting mechanical tension (negative pressure) that liquid water can sustain before cavitation occurs. The temperature dependence of this quantity is of special interest for water, where it can be used as a probe of a postulated anomaly of its equation of state. After a brief review of previous experiments on cavitation, we describe our method which consists in focusing a hi...

Shock-wave model of acoustic cavitation.

Shock-wave model of liquid cavitation due to an acoustic wave was developed, showing how the primary energy of an acoustic radiator is absorbed in the cavitation region owing to the formation of spherical shock-waves inside each gas bubble. The model is based on the concept of a hypothetical spatial wave moving through the cavitation region. It permits using the classical system of Rankine-Hugo...

Shock wave measurements in cloud cavitation

One of the most destructive (and noisy) forms of cavitation is that referred to as “cloud cavitation” because it involves a large collection of bubbles which behave as a coherent whole. The present paper presents the results of an experimental study of the processes of collapse of a cavitation bubble cloud, specifically that generated by an oscillating hydrofoil in a water tunnel. Measurements ...
